The Olympic teams residences

I have been asked to show a few of the decorated residence blocks in the athletes village. There are 204 different countries represented at the Olympic games and the majority have flags and posters hanging from their balconies or on the windows. See how many you can recognise.

This is how the Belgium team get around the village.

There is one notable absence from this group of photos. As yet there are no USA flags adorning any of the residences.

  2. Fun! Loved being able to spot the Spanish residence in there, celebrating 100 years of Olympism (is that a word?) for Spain! :o)

Perhaps the US are "hiding" for security reasons?

Big laugh on seeing the Belgian bicycles!!! :D

  10. Each country has his own way of presenting, funny to see. Well the US is always afraid of terror, but with all the other buildings covered with flags, it is not so difficult to find them I think, so what is the point not to join the others?

  12. The horse must be German, as the flag is black red yellow horizontal. The Belgians have the same colors but in another order black yellow red, vertical as shown on the bikes. Surprises me, because usually except the Flemishs, the other French speaking Belgians are rather lazy with bicycles, lol !
Very interesting to see all these buildings !

  13. What fun to walk around and see all those athletes and flags from different countries, a great group of photos. I was wondering why I didn't see any flags from my adopted country, I guess the U.S. athletes are trying to stay quiet.

  14. What a nice series of photo's. I saw the Dutch flag and I see the Belgian bicycles. The horse has the colors the wrong way but I think they chose that for their palm beer that is represented with a horse. The Danes made a lot of work of it.

  16. I recognize quite a few from my experience teaching at an international school with 30 countries represented. We had the flags all around the gymnasium walls. Wonder why the U.S. is missing. Nice to see "my" Canada. Hope you are soaking up the olympic atmosphere.

  22. Really great seeing what goes on from the inside. Love the shots of all of the buildings. I'm assuming the US doesn't want to create a bullseye target? I guess it wouldn't be too hard to find them though. Intersting. Has there been any conversation about their lack of decorations?
