Olympics -10 days to go

Well as you know I'm now working in the Athletes Village. I am finding it difficult to keep up to date with blogging but will do the best I can. These rings are in the heart of the village and I'm sure will feature on many of the photos to come out of the Village. As there were no Athletes around at the weekend I managed to sneak a photo of myself (centre) and a couple of my colleagues. I think this will be one of my favourite photos.

There has been a lot of negative press about the Olympics -cost, security, organisation etc but in the Village everyone is buzzing with excitement. The flags were all put up on Saturday afternoon amidst great excitement. Lots of workers were wandering around trying to find their home flag.

The Australians have already made their mark on the Village!

Here's the Swiss team putting their flags on show.

No prizes for guessing which team are staying here.

  1. The Canadians always have a lot of class, not like those other groups!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.

  2. What a great photo shoot from right inside the Olympic Village .... we have our very own roving reporter.
Good to see the Australian's home away from home .... I'm hoping they will bring home a few medals.

  3. Aha … love that moose!! I recall there was a lot of concern prior to the Winter Olympics in BC. But it turned out to be one of the best illustrations of camaraderie and global harmony I have yet to see. I have a feeling the mood will be exactly the same at the Olympics in Britain. Great shot of the three of you, by the way!

Hehehe! I don't have a clue which country features a red moose and maple leaf. :))

  7. I am a little worried about that moose's form - he has a strange gait, methinks :)

  8. Wonderful captures for the day and they do transmit the excitement! The first shot is perfect! I hope you have a wonderful experience. The Olympics have always been important to my family as my children's Dad was a silver medalist in the 64 Olympics in Japan. We always follow them pretty closely! Thanks for sharing!

  14. Nice to hear from the inside of the Olympic village. It all looks very well, I heard the comments here too indeed about what's all wrong. But I think there are always pessimists everywhere.

  15. I have very mixed feelings about the Olympics. Mainly to do with the huge corporate muscle power that have taken over this event and are now trying to run every aspect of our lives including what words we use. Do you know that you have broken the law by taking these image? A new law put through parliament on the quiet back in 2006 to keep the IOC happy.

Censorship is an evil thing and even more so when invoked to protect the corporate monsters.

Great images though and I am DELIGHTED you ignored the rules and took it any way. Yay for you.
