Walking down Cornhill towards the Royal Exchange in the City of London, I came across this wonderful art deco building. I haven't been able to find out its history yet. It is currently a bar/restaurant.
How interesting - such a classic, ancient Greek look above, and so modern below! I'm sure that there's something deep and poignant in there somewhere :)
So many hidden gems in London. I wonder what the inside is like. Sometimes interesting buildings are open to the public in London Architecure week. I've seen a few of London's best art deco buildings that way.
A beautiful building ! There were lots of Art Deco houses in Brussels, which this stupid politician has had destroyed in the 50/60 Now they safe what is still saveable !

ReplyDeleteI like the windows with the steel frameworks.
ReplyDeleteIt is clearly has Deco features, but as a deco building, I am not so sure.
ReplyDeleteLooks like something that would have been in the movie Gatsby. It's really neat. I hope you can find out its history. :-)

ReplyDeleteI have a thing for owls! Surprising to see them on the same building as sphinxes.
ReplyDeleteI love the building. Do you think it might be slightly older than art deco? Perhaps Art Nouveau?
ReplyDeleteThey sure are interesting windows.
