Jurong birdpark

To the west of Singapore city centre is the Jurong Birdpark. Although I had gone to visit the birds, one of the first things I spotted was this large iguana munching away at these plants.

Then he casually walked in front of the flamingoes, kindly stopping so I could take a photo.

The next time I spotted him he was on top of one of the aviaries or maybe this was a friend.

I did take some photos of birds as well.

The Shoebill - not one of the most attractive birds I've seen.

But here are some very attractive birds. They even stayed still long enough for me to take a photo.

  4. Nice pictures - I had a drink (I could only afford one!) in Raffles once! Nice place.

The door is wide enough to let 4 or 5 people walk through side by side and even a basket ball player would not have to duck - in other words its big!

  9. I spent some time in this amazing bird park before returning to Australia after coordinating a weekend conference in Singapore a couple of years ago. The colours of the birds are astonishing - so vibrant. (Sadly, I felt the need to cut short my visit here because the "Point-and-Shoot" I was using at the time felt like it was "cooking" in my hand due to the high temperatures (it was March), so I retreated to the airconditioned airport awaiting my flight! However, Jurong is definitely worth a visit - one could not be disappointed. Thanks for sharing these reminders. Happy week.

  13. Oh my goodness, I lost touch with "Our World" and look how much I have missed! What a trip! I am first just so impressed and second, a little bit envious since I'm not sure that I'll be able to find a way to see the world as you are doing. I found all of these birds to be absolutely beautiful.. even the Shoebill :) Wonderful photos! And how neat to see the iguana!

  15. If he was human he'd probably have an itchy throat eating those leaves. They look like taro to me. That's a lovely photo of him with the flamingoes and their reflection.

  22. I'd love to visit Singapore, one day! The birds look very exotic.

I read the post before this one and saw you treated yourself to a Singapore Sling drink.....that made me smile, as that drink was popular at one time. I wonderful if the youngsters even know what it is? ..lol!

  25. What a wonderful holiday ... You've seen so much and I think we might have almost crossed in Singapore .... The flamingos make such a striking photo. For now it's back to normality but isn't it great to have the photos to remind us of the many places we visited & people we met along the way.

    1. I am just in the process of deciding which photos to have developed as I always like to have an album of my trips. What a pity we didn't manage to meet up maybe next time.
