Fun at the paralympics

Wenlock enjoying the games.

2 members of Team GB enjoying the opening ceremony

The mexican team

Members of the Dutch team

The German team

Bermuda?  Not too sure which country but get those wellingtons - a real fashion statement!

Let the games begin. Wheelchair basketball. Brazil v GB which GB won by 4 points. A really exciting game.
This is goal ball. The team are all partially sighted and to make it fair they are all blindfolded so that they cannot see anything. I had not watched this sport before so was unaware of the rules. Each team had 3 members and the idea was to throw the ball into the net of their opponents. This was a very close game with Belgium beating the Islamic Republic of Iran by 8 goals to 6

  11. What fun to be part of the Olympics! Was that on the bucket list too? One of my former 4th grade students was a competitor for the US in racing. Not sure what they would have called it as she can't run but uses the wheelchair. She would be in her early 20s now. I caught site of her in some of the TV ads run here in the States.

  21. The performances of these people are just amazing ! I really admire them how they handle their handicap, when I think that some people don't move anymore because they have backache (just because they don't move, lol)
