Many apologies for not blogging this past week but I have been very busy visiting Mum, catching up with friends and sorting out my next adventure. Very early tomorrow morning I fly to Quito in Ecuador and then on to the Galapagos on Saturday. At the moment I am in a hotel at Heathrow as otherwise it would be impossible to get to the airport on time tomorrow. Today and tomorrow there is a strike on the underground and consequently many stations are closed and a number of lines not running. To compound the travel difficulties, we are experiencing storms with gale force winds which have created havoc on the mainline rail lines. Flooding in the West of the country is awful with land slides demolishing rail links to Cornwall.
It took 4 hours for me to get to Heathrow- a journey which normally takes one and a half hours. But I am here now and looking forward to the next couple of weeks. I doubt internet access will be that good so I don't think I will be blogging until I return home. Look forward to catching up with you all then.

Have a safe journey and hopefully less dramatic than getting to Heathrow. Looking forward to photos :).
ReplyDeleteSomething off your bucket list I imagine. Have a great trip.
ReplyDeleteHave a great time. I went to the Galapagos in the late 1990s (not sure of the exact date) and loved it. Remember to look for the blue footed boobies! :-)
ReplyDeleteFour hours! I hope the rest of your long journey goes more smoothly. Bon voyage!
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip!
ReplyDeleteWow what a fantastic trip for you... Can't wait to hear all about it...
ReplyDeleteNice that you could visit your Mum...
Have a GREAT time.
Hugs,
Betsy
You are going to make a great trip again! Glad you made it to the airport in time. I don't think you will miss the miserable weather in the UK. Have a nice journey and make lots of photos.
ReplyDeleteWowie you do get around the world in your retirement. Making the best of the next 10. Enjoy yourself and take lots of photos to show us.
ReplyDeleteWhat an adventure before even leaving the country. You'll be thankful to finally be on that plane and heading off to the beautiful Galapagos Islands. I can't wait to see your pics. Take care and enjoy.
ReplyDeleteEnvious (not of the transportation difficulties obviously)...looking forward to seeing the travel pix. (
