Teleferico

Today we travelled 2.5km by cable car up the side of the volcano Pichincha to a height of 4100m.

 Looking down over Quito.

Unfortunately from the view point at the top it was too cloudy to see the numerous mountains and volcanoes that surround Quito. Occasionally the clouds parted briefly to reveal a glimpse of the magnificent Andes mountain range.

If it is a clear day when we return to Quito from the Galapagos this is one place I would like to revisit.

  1. Wow! The photo showing the cable stretching so far in the distance is fabulous. Gives a real sense of the climb and distance. And I can just imagine the flute music drifting out over the mountains.

  3. Obviously not too hot there. I am reminded of the tension our Japanese tour guide cultivated in the bus as we approached Mount Fuji. It was shrouded in mist........will the mist clear, will it stay. It did clear and it was one of my most exciting travel moments.

  7. Those pesky clouds. That often happens in the mountains of Switzerland too. It looks a great view down though.
