The saga of the strike continued when I arrived at Heathrow at 4.30am as I didn't realise that the connection from Terminal 3 to 4 was by the underground which of course wasn't working due to industrial action. Ahhh! Fortunately there was a National Express coach going to Brighton, which was calling at the other terminals and the driver kindly gave me a lift.
But here I am in Quito after a very long flight via Amsterdam. This is the view from my bedroom window. The higher mountains are shrouded in cloud but I hope to get a good view over the next couple of days. Just managed this photo before darkness descended.
You are on your way! Beautiful view. Will you get to see any of Quito?
ReplyDeleteSafe travels. Are you doing this alone?
ReplyDeleteSounds like it was a right trial to leave England. Never mind, onwards now.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! On my list of places to visit. Has quite a large ex-pat community.

ReplyDeleteWhat a neat picture! I look forward to your adventure, especially to compare it to mine twenty years ago. :-)
ReplyDeleteYay! Glad to know you arrived safely.
ReplyDeleteI meant at least that you got out of Heathrow safely.
ReplyDeleteYour there!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a hassle getting to the airport. Glad you made it in time. The view is fabulous. Funny in that my ideas of South America are clouded by school book Geography from the 50's. I need to catch up with modern South America . Thanks for helping in this department.
ReplyDeleteSimply stunning. Just the photography we see here is worth every penny spent. I would have been really happy to be able to work like this so I could display it proudly!
