The snow arrives

This is a pathway very close to where I live in a suburb of SE London. To the right of the path are some allotments and then further along on the right it opens out onto some private sports grounds. There used to be a hole in the fence which I could go through and take a short cut to the gym. This has now been mended and I have to walk the long way round. As I am going to the gym to exercise I shouldn't really be complaining about the walk.

As you can see we have had quite a bit of snow the last couple of days but nothing to compare with other parts of the UK. I love it when it looks like this but it doesn't take long for the pavements to either be compacted with snow and therefore very icy and dangerous or, on the rare occasions they are gritted, they become a slushy mess.

  1. Such a pretty path to the gym but as you say not so nice for walking when it turns to slush

  2. It does look beautiful. I have seen some great snow photos in the last couple of days. I am amused at the way woman fight for a parking space as close as possible to the main door of a gym near my work place.

  5. Beautiful photos...too cold for me though. Be careful on that ice (when it turns)...you want to arrive to the gym in one unbroken piece ;>)

  6. It's beautiful indeed! And the pretty blue sky tells me it won't last long. :-)

  7. The snow makes pics look black and white. We have seen on TV how the snow clogged up the airports. I love the pattern the bare trees make.

  9. Can't you cut a hole in the fence again (during night of course) to avoid the long walk ? Your place looks very much like mine here !

  11. Love to see the snow before it either becomes slippery or turns to slush. These photos are lovely. We both do the "gym thing" and yet, we both love short cuts. Go figure :)
