Weekend Reflections

Last weekend I arranged to meet up with a fellow blogger Marcia from Birds, blooms and books  We chatted for a couple of hours before Marcia and Dan were on their way to Heathrow.

So Marcia, this is the reason  I was a little late for our chat. Tower Bridge was raised so I couldn't get across the river, but it made for a great photo.

Why was the Bridge raised?  Just look at the height of the mast  on this catamaran.

  2. Hi Marie, So glad that you and Marcia were able to meet --even for a short time. A couple of years ago, she sent me a couple of plants for my garden (and I sent her some) ---and every time I pass by those plants I think of her..

Hope you are having a good day. We are enjoying the 4th of July today --and are having a near-perfect day in every respect...

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  6. I used to live very near a drawbridge that almost invariably delayed whatever plans you had for the day. Oh well, the charm and perils of life on the river. :-)

  7. If you did not have an appointment, you were in the right place at the right time.

  9. I had already visited the other blog post with your picture, so this is a pleasant addition. And yes, that bridge being raised makes for a great picture! :-)

  10. I always hope it will open when I am nearby. No luck yet! I like the reflection in the very still river.

  12. Lovely reflection of the Tower bridge opening. Been there so many times, but never when the bridge is open.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  13. Looks like a lovely outing. While the catamaran caught my eye, so did the architecture behind it. Terrific series of photos.

  15. I thought I recognized Tower Bridge, just from the little thumbnail at the Weekends Reflections linkpage. I have a painting of it on my living room wall - also with raised bridge! - which my parents bought on our first family holiday to England/London back in 1969 when I was in my early teens. (I'm from Sweden. Hi!)

  16. Always nice to meet a fellow-blogger. That catamaran had a huge mast to have the London Bridge open only for one ship.

  17. Marie - it was a pleasure meeting you. I hope I can return the favor if you come State side. I only wish I'd noticed the bridge being up and caught that photo too. I guess we were too busy gathering our things to be out of the apartment (that had a lovely view of that bridge) by 8 am.

  19. You had a good excuse for being late ... that's a tall mast on that boat. We have to wait for bridges quite often in FL ... it's rather fun for me, but I seldom have to be anywhere at a certain time and we love looking at boats. Neat to meet a fellow blogger.

  20. I think in all my years I have only seen the bridge open, with my own eyes, once... lucky you to capture it

  21. You are on the best way to become a Blogger Guide of London, lol ! Last week I saw the preparations for the "Tour de France" near Buckhingham Palace, now I could watch it. I asked a lorry driver what he was preparing as his truck was loaded with loos !

  22. What a great excuse for lateness, and with the photos to back it up. Not that I imagine Marcia would have doubted you. She seems, both from her photo and from her blog, to be a reasonable and kind person :) How nice that you managed a meet-up with her. Tell her, please, that the name of her blog intrigues me :)
