Spring flowers

On my walk with the U3A (University of the 3rd Age) group this week, the wild Spring flowers were everywhere.

The wood anemones were out in force. Below you can see them lifting their faces to the sun.

The first bluebell I have seen this year.

Primroses

Violets in amongst the primroses

The branches of this tree were laden with catkins.

We were walking a short section of the North Downs Way, a National trail from Farnham in Surrey to Dover in Kent via Canterbury.

This is the rather misty view from the top of the North Downs

  1. Have you ever walked in the Cotswolds? We are doing an eight day walking tour loop in June. Starting and ending in Moreton-in-Marsh. First time ever to England. Then 3 nights in London before we head home. We have a rental apartment in Islington (I think). My brother and his wife are making this trip with us. Been doing a lot of reading about London but know there's no way to see it all in those few days. Your blog has helped.

  4. I am reminded of snow drops, which used to be seen in Australia, but I haven't seen them for years. Spring must be such an exciting time for you. While it is here, there is always the back of the mind thought of it being the harbinger of extreme summer heat.

  7. The wildflowers warm my heart. Interesting to see the primroses as they don't grow wild here. I'd be tempted to amble right on to Canterbury! Maybe I'd arrive on time for the Easter service at the cathedral. :-)

  8. You have Spring and it is beautiful. I always love seeing lowers -- in public or private gardens, even in flower shops... .... but there is something magical about stumbling upon them out in the woods ... so wildflowers are my favorites. You found lots of magic!
