Welcome to my blog

This is it! I've given up work -retired from the rat race and am about to start on a 10 year adventure, doing all those things I've been meaning to do but never had the time to do them. I've offloaded my responsibilities and it is now my time. So follow my adventures and see whether I actually manage anything!

Woke up to beautiful blue skies and decided to go in search of the Stock Ghyll Force near Ambleside in the Lake District.  I hadn't bargained on all the ice around.

It was very cold walking up the hill side and I had to be careful  not to slip on the icy path but it was worth the effort when I got to the top and saw the waterfall.

  1. It looks so icy with all the frozen water. But the fall is not frozen I see. Can you imagine to have such cold in March ever? Winter seems endless this year.

  2. It is odd that I am looking at photos of ice yet I am not feeling the cold from the photos.

  3. Feels cold to me looking at the photos and as you say worth it for the waterfall.

  4. The icicles look beautiful hanging around the waterfall. It must be very cold. Lovely photos. Have a great day!

  5. Beautiful...the ice adds a certain touch; I like that.

  6. Icey cold but oh! so beautiful .... I'm pleased you made it to the falls without any slip-ups.
A few years ago I joined a HF walking group in The Lakes and stayed at a big house on the edge of Derwentwater .... Amazing scenery but very hard walking up those craggy hills.

  7. It's not too late to share at WW Bloggers at www.wordlesswednesdaybloggers.blogspot.com. Hope you'll join us!

  8. Hello,
Wow, beautiful icicles♬♬♬ Although it must be cold, must be worth to see!!!

    Sorry for my belated comment.
Sending you lots of love and hugs from Japan, xoxo Miyako*

  9. Glad you didn’t slip as I imagine it was, indeed, very slick that morning. I have to say I admire your get up and go as you search for adventure and interesting captures in your world. :)

  10. It's freezing cold!

Stopping by from Mandarin Orange Monday- hope you can stop by..

  11. WOAH!!!

Those icicles are fantastic, and the waterfall looks amazing! Well worth the icy walk! :o)

  12. Beautiful waterfall. I love seeing icicles and icy waterfalls. As treacherous as it can be to hike when there's ice around, it is fun to see it... Glad you saw it and shared it with us.
