Ambleside

Woke up to beautiful blue skies and decided to go in search of the Stock Ghyll Force near Ambleside in the Lake District.  I hadn't bargained on all the ice around.

It was very cold walking up the hill side and I had to be careful  not to slip on the icy path but it was worth the effort when I got to the top and saw the waterfall.

  1. It looks so icy with all the frozen water. But the fall is not frozen I see. Can you imagine to have such cold in March ever? Winter seems endless this year.

  2. It is odd that I am looking at photos of ice yet I am not feeling the cold from the photos.

  6. Icey cold but oh! so beautiful .... I'm pleased you made it to the falls without any slip-ups.
A few years ago I joined a HF walking group in The Lakes and stayed at a big house on the edge of Derwentwater .... Amazing scenery but very hard walking up those craggy hills.

  12. Beautiful waterfall. I love seeing icicles and icy waterfalls. As treacherous as it can be to hike when there's ice around, it is fun to see it... Glad you saw it and shared it with us.

    Hugs,
    Betsy
