Welcome to my blog

This is it! I've given up work -retired from the rat race and am about to start on a 10 year adventure, doing all those things I've been meaning to do but never had the time to do them. I've offloaded my responsibilities and it is now my time. So follow my adventures and see whether I actually manage anything!

Christmas markets

Lots of Christmas markets seem to be springing up in different parts of the city. This one is on the Southbank. There doesn't seem to be many selling interesting craft items only food or drink.

But then I found this lovely stall selling wreaths and decorations made from organic materials. The smells were wonderful.

  4. Lovely!

I LOVE Christmas markets! It's one of the things I miss most about when I lived in Belgium, particularly this time of year! We had a few ok ones in Belgium, but some fabulous ones just across the border in Germany! I think I've been to the Aachen Christmas market about 6 times... at least! :p

If you'd like to see them, I wrote a series of posts last year about the Christmas markets I'd seen in Belgium and Germany! Here's the link:

  7. Hi I am new here, read your headings and profile and am so envious with you! How i wish when i retire i also have the means to only do what i wanted to do. But working in a country like ours is different from working in your countries, so we are not very privileged. But i have also some share of travelling abroad from official trips, oh how i enjoy travelling most specially the temperate ones. I will be back here and read your old posts. thanks.

  16. I do like these decorations. I went to the market at La Defense last week and it was just junk-I thought the markets on the Champs was much better-maybe it helped that the mood was more festive. Have you ever been to the ones in the Alsace region-they were really charming.
