Rock Wallabies

Walking along by the marina next to the hotel I met an elderly couple from Victoria who were on their way to feed the rock wallabies. I had never heard of these animals before so I asked if I could tag along and watch. I wasn't disappointed.

They are quite shy creatures and once the food had been put out we had to stay quite still.

They come out about 5pm each evening to eat the food left by the locals. A mixture of salad leaves and fruit seems to be on the menu tonight.

Any slight sound distracts them from their eating. It was a real treat for me to watch. My thanks to the couple for sharing this gem with me.

On the way back I noticed this bird watching a fisherman pack up to go home.

I was told it was a fish eagle that always hangs around when someone is fishing in the hope of grabbing the catch before the fisherman does. He is locally known as 'Danny'!
