In the afternoon I took the tourist bus around Sydney and then carried on to Bondi beach. It wasn't too busy considering the beautiful weather. The soft, clean sand felt cool underfoot. I went in for a paddle but that didn't last - the water was freezing! Magazine images of Bondi came to mind, the huge waves; the surfers; the bronzed body builders and yes there they all were! For once the magazines had not exaggerated.
Here's the huge waves. The surfers were there but by the time I took the photo they had fallen into the surf.
And the bronzed body builder? Taking my photo of course.
In the evening I met with friends of my daughter - Sophie and Mark. They were the perfect hosts. Firstly Sophie took me to the Opera bar for a drink.
Then we went to Customs house where we met Mark and enjoyed some real fine dining there. A real treat. An excellent way to finish off my first full day in Sydney. There were even fireworks going off over the Opera House, Sophie told me they were in my honour.

It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThat water doesn't LOOK cold, but I take your word for it. Beautiful pictures, with a very cool white-haired lady! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe water's still freezing? I thought it might have started warming up by now... especially with all those people in bikinis hanging around there! :p
ReplyDeleteIt is still cold in Sydney. I am catching up on your exciting posts as I have been off the air while traveling down to Sydney.
