Satirical Berlin

Berlin has been a bit more of a serious city break than most others. The sight seeing has focused on WW2 and its consequences. A sobering lesson for all of us yet as we see, elsewhere in the world, history continues to repeat itself.
The Reichstag

But that wasn't the only side of Berlin we saw.  On the side of a building which housed the cafe 'Taz' was this sculpture which being on the naive side I didn't see what it was until I got close to it. I was amazed that this sculpture would be allowed in such a public place but then the waiter inside the cafe told me that the editor's office of the tabloid 'Bild' looked directly onto this work of art.

An explanation of the background to the artwork is printed below.

  1. Certainly was not there when I visited the place before the wall came down.

  2. Oh, good Lord! I had to look carefully at it to see what it was I was seeing. It's really... something else. It would never be allowed in the US. I don't know if that is good or bad, since censorship is abhorrent to me, but then again... this is pretty awful.

  4. I'm not sure that would get the go ahead in many places!

I like the humor of it, but it lasts too long this way I think.
