Lockdown week 6

This week I received my first covid vaccination which was probably the highlight of the year! The vaccination programme seems to be the only thing we have managed to get right in the UK. There is a strict order of who receives the vaccine and it was finally my turn. It is a huge administrative exercise to vaccinate the whole country. It is not compulsory and there will be some people who will not want to have it but I hope the numbers will be high enough to prevent its rapid spread once again. The numbers of confirmed cases, covid hospital admissions and deaths are gradually reducing but the numbers are still far too high for us to come out of lockdown.

I am no longer walking in the crowded parks but going a little further out in Kent.  I can still walk here from my daughter's where I am staying from Sunday to Friday.

For those of you who were interested in this Jigsaw, I finally finished it. It took quite a few hours, (actually loads of hours). I thought the reflection was difficult until I tried to do the sky!

All that remains is to take it apart and pass it on to someone else to complete.

  1. Like you I had mine as well, just have to wait till my wife gets hers and even longer for my lads. Not sure I'd be up to making a jigsaw like that but well done on doing it

  2. I am in a forgotten corner of the US and have tried everything to get the jab, but I guess it will be a bit longer, although I qualify to get it. Congrats on getting it! :-)

  3. Beautiful snowy scenes and a great jigsaw. I am glad you got your first vaccine. I'm lucky enough to have received both. A huge relief.

  4. That does look like a tough puzzle.
We get our first vaccines on the 23rd.

  5. Good for you on your vaccination!! I am getting my second dose tomorrow and couldn't be happier. Every state here does their own thing and even within our state, the Indian Tribes, which are sovereign nations under the law, have their own allocation of vaccines and do their own rules.

  7. It is very satisfying to complete a difficult jigsaw and then comes the decision of when to reluctantly pull it apart.

  8. Congrats on getting the first shot. I got mine a week ago and feel a huge relief. I can't believe there are folks who refuse.
Great job on the puzzle. I hate those areas of all one color.

  9. Good to hear you are getting your jab; I have an appointment to get my second jab this week. It is well organized where I live in California and is all outdoors, we stay in our cars and health professionals come out to us. No being indoors with strangers, which is healthy, I think. Your puzzle is a beauty.

  10. Jigsaw sales must have boomed over the Covid time. It looks nice where you can walk now and good that its not crowded. You are lucky to get your jab. Ours only arrived in Australia last week. WE managed to get the virus under control but couldn't manage to get the vaccine until now. Uk has done well with the numbers already vaccinated. Hope you will be out of lockdown soon.

  11. Well done on getting the shot, New Zealand's only just arrived this morning so the govt are busy sorting out who gets what until the next lot arrive. I"m guessing as a healthcare worker I'll have to get mine at some point.

  12. I misread your heading as Week 16 of lockdown. It feels like that at the moment. Glad you got your jab. I had an invite but it turned out to be an error. Will just have to be patient. Hubby has had his first one. Well done on the puzzle and still getting out for walks. Our nearby lake was frozen too.

  13. So good to hear you were able to receive the vaccine. Many of our friends and family in other states have received theirs, some even the second one but we have not even gotten the first one though we registered weeks ago.

  14. My father would be first in line in our household and we are expecting that sometime at the end of March!

We have been fortunate that we can still go out and walk further away. My sister in NI says she has to stay within a 10 mile radius of home.

  15. Congratulations on having your vaccine, it's impressive to see how well it is being rolled out in the UK, fingers crossed it works. Keep wandering!

  16. Our injections will go first to the elder, essential health care workers, teachers and all staff who work in quarantine hotels. When they are all covered, I imagine that the rest of the middle aged adult population will be sorted.

Vaccinations won't be compulsory in this country, but apparently restaurants and pubs will be able to exclude clients who cannot prove they have been vaccinated. Good idea.

  17. So happy you have had your first vaccine. We had our second back in Jan. And we feel so much safer. We do mask up and keep our distance but now actually go into more stores and even some restaurants. The best part was seeing my kids....They are safe because they had it and survived...We know we probably wouldn’t have.

  18. Oh reading backwards again ...there really *is* hope ...you got your vaccine! I am glad for you. We still wait on a list that doesn’t seem to move anyone up.
