Celebrating

Yesterday I met up with V who I have known for over 50 years. We first met in our hall of residence on our first day at college. In our second year we shared a flat together and have been friends ever since. To celebrate her birthday next week we went to an exhibition (Picasso and Paper) at the Royal Academy on Piccadilly. It was a very good exhibition with many drawings and paintings I hadn't seen before. I was surprised by his sculptures (didn't know he had done any) and the collages using different types of paper.

Afterwards we went to the Wolseley for afternoon tea which was a real treat.

They were happy to replenish the cakes and sandwiches as often as we wanted as well as fresh pots of tea.

We were there for 3 hours chatting, eating and people watching.  Very impressive head wear.

  2. What a wonderful thing to have a friend for such a long time. The afternoon tea looks very nice and the venue is quite busy.

  3. Afternoon tea - around a silver tea pot, a silver cake stand and white linen table clothes - used to be a real pleasure. Not luxurious... just leisurely and tasty.

  7. What a nice day you had. We all need to be pampered once in awhile. Maybe that other woman was also celebrating her birthday?

  8. Nothing better than a long time friend. You know eachother like siblings. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. I might have been tempted to have gone to her and admired her head wear hoping that would release the story.

  10. I’ve lost track of all my friends from college but my sister has kept up with hers. I think it is a matter of whether or not you move far away, as I have done while my sister has stayed in the same state she was born in. What a lovely tea. Next year you should wear hats!
