Ljubljana highlights

Here are some highlights of the old town of Ljubljana

Ljubjana castle stands above the town providing excellent views.

The Triple Bridge in front of the Franciscan church

They make excellent sausages in the town.

The love locks on Butcher's Bridge. This bridge was constructed in 2010 and is surrounded by grotesque structures with mythological themes.

Last weekend I went with a group of friends to Ljubljana in Slovenia. Christmas time is always a good time to visit somewhere new. So our first evening was spent wandering around the old town with its well decorated market and buildings reflected in the river.

We also visited the old town of Radovljica which looked magical.

In the morning we wandered around the central market in Ljubljana with its flowers and fruit and veg.

I would love to have a market like this on my doorstep. There is a food market here everyday except Sunday. Everything looked so fresh

Being Christmas there was a section of the market devoted to Christmas wreaths and foliage.

Mistletoe was in great demand

Christmas shop windows

The Bull and the China.

Window dressing has an important role in enticing the shoppers inside the store. Here are a couple of examples of the Central London Christmas windows this year.

Fortnum and Mason has gone for the theme of togetherness, 'Together we are Merrier' Each window tells the story of an unlikely pairing who have put aside their differences for the season of Christmas. The stories are told through rhymes printed on the windows and the characters.
