I hadn't realised the new stamps showing the King's head were now on sale until I needed one to send a card to Canada. On the Charles III stamp he isn't wearing a crown and is looking in the opposite direction to the Queen on her stamps. Seemed strange not to see the Queen's head on the stamps.

The new stamps.

He had a retrognathia and plethora of neck.
ReplyDeleteSomewhat different to a young and beautiful new Queen on stamps ever so many decades ago.
ReplyDeleteI wonder when he'll appear here on our stamps.
ReplyDeleteYes, I don't think I'll ever get used to hearing God Save The King either. Actually it's the coins on which Charlie faces in the opposite direction, not the stamps - don't ask me why!
ReplyDeleteThanks for correcting me.
DeleteAfter having the same queen for so many years I'll bet it is a hard transition.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem strange, we will have to get use to it over time. We usually have Queens birthday weekend here in June, wonder if it will change to Kings birthday weekend?
ReplyDeleteIs he not wearing a crown because we haven't had the coronation yet? Will that mean another new design in due course?
ReplyDeleteYes, it does seem strange. I’m guessing a colorful new one will be issued on Charles’ coronation.
ReplyDeleteI never thought about how those stamps and coins must almost seem counterfeit after all that time.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem strange not to see the Queen's head on our stamps.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
