Last day in Canada

Had a reasonable night but the room was as dark in the morning as it was at night.  The owner, who was very chatty and amiable, made us some delicious waffles for breakfast. Afterwards we walked down to the river. It was very misty but the water was hardly moving, creating some beautiful reflections.

We returned to the hotel which you can see in the background. Today we were returning to Ottawa where I would be catching my flight home and M would be staying on for a couple more days to visit family.

It wasn't a long drive so we had time to visit Gattinaux Park for a couple of hours. Unfortunately the weather was not so kind and it poured with rain.

I loved the park, only sorry the weather wasn't better so we could go for a walk. Time passed very quickly and it wasn't long before I had to go to the airport. A sad goodbye to M but all being well we'll meet up for another adventure in a country new to us both in 2018.

  1. The reflections are grand. Can you give us a hint of where you will next visit? Will there be spears?

  4. Such a nice trip. We are headed back to Europe at end of March for a river cruise from Amsterdam to Basel with a stay over of 3 nights in Basel before flying home.

  12. Rain makes for misery sometimes, but also gives you a different perspective and a different view of beauty. Your photos are still beautiful. Can't wait to hear where your next adventure will be.

  13. I very much dislike goodbye's especially when you had a great time together! Good plan to meet again:) The reflections are amazing!
Also looked at the Michelin house - someone must have the original stained glass in their basement! O modern style, and I love the details you showed! Wonder now you're back in the UK if it's about the same temperature or warmer...

  14. So great that you have such a good friend with whom you love to travel... What are you two thinking about for 2018?????

Sorry the weather didn't seem to want to cooperate much on this trip.. But--it does look as if you got to see some pretty Autumn colors....

I also looked at the Michelin House post. The only place I've heard that name is "Michelin Tires" so I'm assuming it is the same family..... Interesting place.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  15. We are on the west coast of Canada but our weather is rainy and cool as well. Hope you had a nice visit and will return another time when you can enjoy the parks and outdoors more. - Margy
