Christmas in Ljubljana

Last weekend I went with a group of friends to Ljubljana in Slovenia. Christmas time is always a good time to visit somewhere new. So our first evening was spent wandering around the old town with its well decorated market and buildings reflected in the river.

We also visited the old town of Radovljica which looked magical.

In the morning we wandered around the central market in Ljubljana with its flowers and fruit and veg.

I would love to have a market like this on my doorstep. There is a food market here everyday except Sunday. Everything looked so fresh

Being Christmas there was a section of the market devoted to Christmas wreaths and foliage.

Mistletoe was in great demand

  1. What a beautiful time of year to travel. We have mistletoe way up in a tree in our yard, much too high to get a piece for holiday decorating or kissing. ;-)

  2. It looks interesting and you are correct about vegetables, so fresh, but we generally found them to be so in Europe. Bit chilly though.

  3. What a lovely spot. A nice time of year to be there too.

By the way we firmed up our travel plans for Sept - we will be in Scotland for two weeks.

  9. Wow, you were far away for a Chritmas market! Always interesting to see how other countries celebrate it. I was a few times in Germany and Belgium, they always have other products as here.
