Hainault country park

The rain clouds cleared away on Thursday so I took a trip out to Hainault to walk around the park. The day started off with a clear blue sky but didn't last for long.

There were a number of different water birds on and around the lake. This heron seemed to be enjoying the brief spell of sunshine.

The boats were lying idle waiting for the weekend visitors to take them out for a row round the lake.

Looking closer at the boats I noticed a couple of cormorants who also seemed to be waiting for a lift.

  1. lovely selection of photos. I am sad that all birds here except sparrows and a few others(a few brave crows, bluejays and chickadees) have migrated away....but they will be back next spring!

  6. Hainault seems to one name that was not brought here by our ancestors, with the name only being used for a vineyard.

  12. I got a scare today with a heron just seemingly coming out of nowhere! I always thought they flew south for the winter, but apparently not!

  13. I love the cormorants commanding the boats since no humans are needing them. It's interesting that you see the same birds I am seeing here in South Carolina.
