Whilst visiting my son and Dil a couple of weeks ago in Leeds I paid a visit to Tatton Park near Manchester. It is here that the family had a tree planted in Mum's memory.
I didn't think it would be over two years before I would be able to see it again but this is how it looks today.
The tree is looking very lush and such a great thing for the memory of your mother.
ReplyDeleteWhen my mum passed, she was a journalist and writer and wanted to be remembered for her books. The organisation that took all her books put a small memorial plaque on the side of the bookcase.
ReplyDeleteBut a tree is alive, growing and gives pleasure to everyone in the garden. Is there a marker with your mum's name?
The land is owned by the National Trust and it doesn't allow plaques or markers on trees. However, a dedication to mum as well as the GPS position of the tree is in a book held in the main office at Tatton Park. Future generations will always be able to find the tree.

ReplyDeleteOh the tree did beautifully even without you there (which is the wonderful thing about nature). That's a beautiful park and a perfect idea for a memorial.
