Not much of a Christmas

We found out yesterday that the new strain of the Corona virus is 70% more contagious than the original virus. Consequently the SE of England including London is now in another lockdown with no meeting up with other households this Christmas. For one little girl it was too much. She just cried and cried last night when she was told she couldn't see her other grandparents or any one else this Christmas. At 6yrs old it's a lot to accept. On the bright side, Father Christmas is exempt from the rules.

  1. Poor little mite It must be sad for some of them. We are in the middle all around our area is Tier Four though we do not want any one else here other than those who live in our house. My mate next door kids live in Tier four so will not be visiting and they hope the other who lives in Bristol says away as well. All I can say to you is have a good Christmas

  3. The poor girl. Will you be staying with them anyway again, or will you be 'celebrating' on your own?

  5. It's going to be a very sad Christmas for many people. How many people have lost family members? Here in the US every time I check someone else has gotten sick with the virus. Or worse. :-(

  6. For children it is difficult to understand not seeing your loved ones. It is a sad time for everyone this year.....

  7. I’m so sorry for the children. Very hard for all but adults can understand the need for isolation. (Or should be able to, although that’s certainly not true for many over on this side of the pond.).

  8. It’s so sad, for children and us grownups, too. I alternate between bucking up and enjoying what we can and being sad and angry for all that we can’t. I’m sorry for your little granddaughter and that you will be alone, Marie. Hoping for better times to come. xo

  9. We were reading about this yesterday. It must be the 3rd lockdown for you guys aye? Wouldn't it be nice if the govt just did it properly the first time. Stay safe.

  10. I don't think that Toby misses the Christmas Eve very much, because we would have been as usual only 4 and him. The most important is that Father Christmas comes from Waterloo, which he does via links to gifts ! The modern list to Father Christmas is done by email with a link ! The gift is delivered to Amsterdam wrapped and with a card ! And then we will zoom ! Very romantic. The Dutchs don't celebrate Christmas as we do, they
celebrate on Dec 6 Saint Niklas ! With gifts etc and Saint Niklas comes via boat on the canals of Amsterdam !

  11. Hugs to your Granddaughter - my daughter felt the same with the news too in London. We had to accept a long time ago that we wouldn't see family but I did feel so sad with the UK news too. Wishing you a Merry Christmas never the less.

  15. I was saddened to hear about this new virus strain - very worrying. My heart goes out to those who can't be with their families for Christmas. So I send you my best wishes to you and your family for a safe Christmas. Take care and thank you for visiting my blog this week.

  17. We went from being cautious, to ecstatic when the Christmas break was announced - all the kids were coming for Christmas - to heartbroken when everything changed. Our grandchildren are all a bit too young to fully understand what's going on but I know the ones we don't see miss us. And we of course miss them. Lots. We saw two of our 3 kids over the break, but not together and we played a game of trivial pursuit over zoom with all of them. (Chaotic, noisy, long lol) I hope you managed to enjoy yourself and are staying well. Let's hope 2021 is better!
