It was a very wet morning but I went into London early today to have a look around China Town which is celebrating the Chinese New Year this week. I always prefer to get there before the crowds so I can take some photos without too many people in them.
All the restaurants were busy getting ready for the day ahead.
By early afternoon everywhere was packed. There was a great show in Trafalgar Square but the rain and crowds were just too much for me.
I hope the Year of the Pig is a good one for you.
I think you got some great shots despite the weather and crowds. Very colourful.
ReplyDeleteWonderful parade shots!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos thanks
ReplyDeleteI think you parade pictures are very good, clear and festive! Thank you for allowing me to see what Chinese New Year looks like in London. :-)
ReplyDeleteThey sure know how to party. The parade looks beautiful. WE had a great party here but on a smaller scale.
ReplyDeleteI was actually born in the year of the pig, a few years ago now. It seems quite fitting it being Chinese New Year at a time when I am trying a new life as well. And pig again as well. Funny that.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are great, with so much colour. I love the panda photo, and the lion photos in the parade.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see such a parade but your pictures did a great job of taking me there. Thank you. I'll have to look up the year of the Pig. I was born in the year of the Rabbit.
ReplyDeleteAll of those wonderful colors sure brightened up a gray day!
ReplyDeleteLoved all of the bright colors. It is a shame that the weather wasn’t better.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Always a good time to celebrate. The year of the pig
ReplyDeleteIt is a colourful happening every year!
ReplyDeleteAwesome Chinese New Year photos in London ~ ^_^
ReplyDeleteI remember walking in Chinatown when we were there ~ ^_^
Happy Day to you,

I just love the way you take us through your whole day...the background preparation for a big deal like this Celebration is, I think, even more interesting than the actual event! Although that looks an awesome parade! Getting to these events early in the day is obviously the key to a great post ...thanks for doing that. And Happy .year of the Pg to you too.
ReplyDeleteI like those red lanterns and the dragons and all, very festive. Plus the marching pandas and that cute sculpture in the last photo. I saw the San Francisco dragon parade one year.
ReplyDeleteVery nice pictures ! I remember years ago when my son was still living in London, we went there for a real Chinese restaurant and fell into the New Year celebrations ! That was wonderful ! We also have a parade here in Brussels, but this year it was cancelled it rained cats and dogs ! The dragons are so pretty !
