It has been difficult to think of anything other than the tragic loss of life in Manchester this week. Brought up in Manchester and having Mum in a nursing home there, I am a regular visitor to the City. It is a very different place to London where I now live. The difference is in the people and community. It is a friendly, welcoming city where everyone speaks to everyone else. It is incomprehensible that anyone could do this to their fellow human beings.
We were there briefly three years ago. It was not long enough to get a feel for the city, let alone investigate. It is interesting that you say Manchester is so different to London. Your last sentence is motherhood, but salient.
ReplyDeleteIt is a horror attack to innocent people having a nice evening. What a sick mind must that man have. My thoughts are with the Manchester people.
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to all who were touched by this awful act of terror. All those young people either gone or badly injured. It is hard to fathom. :-(
ReplyDeleteLovely tribute.
ReplyDeleteI remembered your Manchester connection .... and thought of you immediately. It is such a senseless act and I would be heartsick of course, no matter where it took place, but somehow it humanizes the whole thing and brings it even closer since I feel like I "know" someone with ties there.
ReplyDeleteLovely tribute.
Thought of you and wondered if you had any connection to Manchester.... TERRIBLE what happened... I just sat and cried for those families.... WHY would anyone EVER do something like that? There are some very mean people in this world.... So SAD.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Marie...
Hugs,
Betsy
All the families touched by this tragedies have been on my mind. It is incomprehensible to me why anyone would go after children to loose their anger and hatred on the world. Another event like this rocks the whole world, makes us all more fearful, less secure, less trusting, less safe.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about the senseless loss of life in Manchester. Such a tragedy...
ReplyDeleteIt is quite a tragedy, one of too many these days. Will we ever be able to look back and say "thank goodness that doesn't happen anymore"?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately there will always be idiots who, for some reason, think others should have no place on this earth.
ReplyDeleteThe few times I have been there I have found it welcoming, things like this should never happen. One Love
