Battersea Power Station

Travelling into London Victoria by train I took this photo of Battersea Power Station through the window. The power station was decommissioned in 1983

I took this photo of the power station in 2013 whilst walking the Thames path. Work had just begun on the restoration of the building and its conversion into plush apartments, restaurants etc.

Three years on you can only see one of the four chimneys, the others will be back. As this is a listed building, they have to be reconstructed and returned to their original position on the power station. They anticipate work to be completed by 2020,

  7. What a leap of faith and money and time to buy and convert that power station into apartments, restaurants, etc. No return on investment til perhaps 2020. I bet it will be nice when completed.

  13. There seems to be a big lag in when I am notified that you have a new post. This one is four days old!
My first thought was, hmm, will I be up to traveling to London in 2020 and then the realized that's only four years away! 2020 sounds so futuristic. I'm cso glad the building is being cared for and renovated into something useable.

  14. Should be good when it is done. We have one in Brisbane that has been turned into a theatre complex with restaurants, Its called the Powerhouse. They kept a lot of the building as it was but made it look artistic. They still had some old turbines still there as a show piece. Look at how it is now here
