I am in Mexico and today is Mardi Gras or Shrove Tuesday. Internet reception isn't great but here are a couple of photos from Patzcuaro:
There was lots of dancing in the Square in the afternoon. This is a traditional dance with the participants wearing masks.
In the evening there was a small parade with men dressed as women and everyone wearing masks .This handsome young man was my dancing partner!

ReplyDeleteMexico??? Wow--you get around, Marie!!!! I'm envious.... We loved Mardi Gras when I lived in New Orleans years ago. We celebrated Mardi Gras for about 3 weeks before Shrove Tuesday (Fat Tuesday).. On that Tuesday, we always had PANCAKES (tradition).... Then the next day began LENT ---and we all dieted.... ha

Oh, you're so close to Minnesota! (Well, on the same continent anyway.) Wouldnt you like to zip up here and feel our winter for a few days?
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! That means today must be Ash Wednesday. I've lost track of the church calendar since I left it behind, but I've been to a few Mardi Gras celebrations myself. Glad you're away from the cold at least. :-)
