One thing I love about London is that there is always something unexpected happening. Yesterday I was at London Bridge station on my way to meet a friend. I could hear someone playing a piano.
It was Jools Holland. They were making a film or something. It was great listening to him play. I missed my train though!

I think that was probably worth missing your train for :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know of him, but it is always nice to come across some really good and unexpected performances.
ReplyDeleteDid you see the new ABC series The Piano? The pianist stepped up to the upright piano in a public place with respect, then loudly started with music for all to hear. Pedestrians stopped walking and started listening.
ReplyDeleteIn episode #1 a piano was located at Sydney’s Central Station, in episode #2 at Melbourne's Southern Cross Station. Amanda Keller was the hostess as pianists young and old showed what hidden talent they have.
This is a UK format in which upright pianos are positioned in public places – railway stations, markets etc – for members of the public to play before the cameras. In episode one a piano is located at Sydney’s Central Station, in episode two at Southern Cross Station in Melbourne. Amanda Keller serves as host as pianists young and old show what ‘hidden’ talent they have. In this most public of places it’s so much more endearing than on a Got Talent stage, as passers-by pause to appreciate the power of music.
One of my favourite programs is Later With Jools Holland and the hootenanny. You were lucky and I’d miss my train to see him as well
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy Jools Holland and have been to one of his concerts ... amazing.
ReplyDeleteHow good for your to stumble across him playing while you were out. (never mind that you missed your train)
All the best Jan
