I'm so fed up, I am ready to give up. For those of you who follow me on my other blog
https://62andthenext10pathways.blogspot.com/
you will know that this is where I write about my visits to London Underground stations. It is over 10 years since I started the challenge of visiting all 272 stations and writing about them. My latest venture was to Camden Town, the 211th station I've visited. It has taken me about 3 weeks to research and write about it. Finished it last night and this morning I did a read through, corrected a few bits and pieces and just as I was writing the final sentence it disappeared. There is no way of retrieving a post on blogger once it goes. This has happened once before and it took me ages to regain my motivation to continue. If it wasn't so early in the morning I would head for the gin bottle. Hope you all have a better start to your day. I am going out for the day now. Whether I open this computer again remains to be seen!
That sounds so frustrating. It happened to all of us with the technical mishap. Hope days get better
ReplyDeleteI know this is not of much comfort, but I too lost blog posts in the past. So I decided to print off the first draft of a post before it is closed, corrected or edited
ReplyDeleteSave the draft in a small font and print it on second hand paper to save money
Sorry. Some of my best blog writing disappeared into outer space before being published. You can rewrite, but it is never as good as what you've already written but your readers won't know. I know you will. I was doubtful about you completing the underground, but now I am confident you will, and what a great snapshot of a period of London you have created.
ReplyDeleteThat is so frustrating. You will recover from it.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry this happened to you. I hope you recover; I'll check out that other blog,
ReplyDeletePlease don't give up! You are doing so well with your challenge and there are many of us who love reading the station posts. But I can imagine how frustrated you are. Have you thought about preparing the text at least on Word or an equivalent so that you only need to copy and paste that into Blogger and then save the post before adding in your photos and tidying it up?
ReplyDeleteAsk Andrew in Australia I remember that his whole blog had disappeared 10 or more years of writing posts. I don't remember if he managed to get it back, but I know that he did the impossible ! There must be a solution, don't give up ! Blogging is very important above all when you are getting older, I can say that now, since two days I am 82 ! But blogging helps me to keep me up to date, and not getting like some women here who live like vegetables ! Courage !!!
ReplyDeleteoh no, that's so weird, normally blogger saves it as it goes along.
