Stockholm Metro

On my final day in Stockholm I visited a few of the colourful Metro stations. The Metro is often referred to as the 'longest art gallery in the world'. I was sorry I only had time to visit a few of them. Where known I have added the names of the stations!
Radhuset

Tensta

Kungstradgarden

  1. Wonderful art work, I had no idea this existed. The art that looks like cave paintings and petroglyphs like from the American Southwest are especially beautiful and apt. I will tell my friend who moved here from Sweden about this post.

  4. What a good idea to put art in such public places where it is reasonably secure. The illuminated escalators grabbed my attention.

  8. The first one you showed of Radhuset (the escalator up) looks like it's a stairway into the clouds. So fun. I will definitely have to have a talk with my sister about where our travels will lead us!

  9. What a fabulous idea. Turning the underground rail into an art gallery.

  10. It's wonderful they have turned them into art installations but I didn't care for the subterranean feel. I felt kind of claustrophobic. Probably just me!

  11. Who would have thought a subway station could be such an art gallery. How incredible. 17 days until we are in England.

Thank you for your comment: I guess we'll "have to" like that green for the house for a number of years at least:)

  14. Am glad - much better than in some other Metro's I've seen! Somewhere I saw you have a grand daughter - does she often go with you on your train-excursions for your blog?
