I was in Vienna for a few days last week and went on a tour of the State Opera House. Tickets for the opera are usually sold out 6 months in advance but I was delighted to be able to go on a guided tour of the building.
They have a different production each evening so the scenery needs to be changed daily. It isn't stored at the Opera House so has to be transported across the town.

I did offer to help out in the chorus line but no one seemed interested.
Superb captures of an awesome place!! What a treat to be able to go there!! Yep, I'm just a tad envious, but the your photos are the next best thing!! Thanks so much for sharing!! Hope you have a great new week!! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteVienna now! You certainly get about on your travels. Shame about the dancing - the video would have been very entertaining.

Hello, what a fantastic tour! You do get around, Vienna? That is awesome. I love the last shot of you, I think you would be great in the Chorus Line. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week ahead!
ReplyDeletepretty place...looks like you had phun
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place! I am always thrilled to be taken along on these tours with you. :-)
ReplyDeleteVisiting this opera house still awaits me on my Bucket List. I have always heard how gorgeous it is. Now you have taken me on a little private tour of it. It looks out of this world.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful building. I'd love to see an opera one day, but it's not very common here in Colorado Springs (while we have a good symphony orchestra, I'd have to drive to Denver to see an opera).
ReplyDeleteIt is only just recently that I have realised when we were admiring the opera house, it was the back of it we were looking at. No wonder I thought Budapest opera house was nicer. The Vienna opera house interior is a good bit more grand the Budapest's but what I liked about Budpest's was it had a really well used feeling, a space for the people, not just the wealthy. I hope we see a few more photos of the lovely city of Wien.
ReplyDeleteWe are lucky you got to take these photos

Beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteWhat an ornate building! Lucky you to be able to get a tour. And I think you'd make a fine chorus member! :)
ReplyDeleteGrand interiors! I would have loved to click these. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, the interiors is rich and ornate.
ReplyDeleteLovely images of the Opera. Make me wonder if this is the place where they have the New Years concerts every year.
ReplyDeleteThat is a city I would so love to visit one day. And I would love to go to one of those classical concerts or an opera as well.
ReplyDeleteThe building is very beautiful, nice that you could see it from inside. The costume suits you very well !
ReplyDeleteThose buildings are always so magnificent to have a tour. You can right on to the stage in that costume I think.
ReplyDeleteLovely building and a lovely city!
ReplyDeleteWow - how fabulous!
ReplyDeleteA different production every night sure makes a lot of work! The building is wonderful. Lucky you to have gotten inside!
ReplyDeleteHow neat. We will visit Vienna (I think) next year when we take the river cruise from Budapest to Germany.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty exhausted right now. Don't know why I'm sitting at the laptop. Took my mother in law on a road trip to see a retirement community where my parents lived and my sister lives now. Got home just an hour ago after driving almost 4 hours to return her home and then drive myself home in pouring rain.
I don't understand why the talent scouts didn't snap you right up for the chorus line! Obviously, the dress is perfect for you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous place.
That staircase shot reminds me of the Paris Opera House.
ReplyDeleteWow, you have been traveling ... How wonderful. What a beautiful city ... Enjoyed scrolling through all of thee posts.
